UK Film Council-funded films take 33 BIFA nominations
Ten new British feature films and two short films funded by the UK Film Council have received a total of 33 nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).

Ten new British feature films and two short films funded by the UK Film Council have received a total of 33 nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs).
The films are:
- The King's Speech for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor (two nominees) and Best Technical Achievement, making it the film with the most nominations (8);
- The Arbor for Best Debut Director (Hickox award), Best Documentary, Best Actress, Most Promising Newcomer, Best Achievement in Production and Best Technical Achievement (6 nominations);
- Another Year for Best Director, Best Actress,Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress (4 nominations);
- Made in Dagenham for Best Screenplay, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor (4 nominations);
- Brighton Rock for Best Debut Director (Hickox award), Best Actress, Most Promising Newcomer and Best Technical Achievement (4 nominations);
- Africa United for Best Debut Director (Hickox award) (1 nomination);
- Streetdance 3D for Best Achievement in Production (1 nomination);
- Tamara Drewe for Best Supporting Actress (1 nomination);
- Neds for Most Promising Newcomer (1 nomination);
- Son of Babylon for the Raindance Award (1 nomination); and
- Baby and Sis for Best British Short (2 nominations).
In addition, the UK Film Council also supported the UK cinema release of I Am Love and A Prophet, both nominated for the Best Foreign Film Award.

The BIFA nominations underline the strength of British filmmaking talent, the importance of public investment in getting British films made and onto the screen, and also augur well for putting the films and the talent onto the path for international award success."
